Mesh or Solid Safety Covers: Which one is right for me?

Pool safety is not only necessary for your pool but also your family members. To avoid any kind of complications it is extremely necessary that you install the right kind of pool covers. The safety cover you choose for your pool will have a huge impact on the maintenance covers. Depending on the seasons when you would be carrying the maintenance work, you should get the covers.

There are usually two types of swimming covers: mesh and pool. These are made of hard and tough materials aimed at increasing the safety of pool. Choosing between the two can be a tough job to consider but the cover you choose will play an important role in determining how safe the pool is.

Mesh pool Covers

The mesh safety cover appears like a huge strainer, allowing snow and rainwater to sleep into the pool but preventing dirt, debris, insects and leaves. At the same time, UV light can also affect the swimming pool.

Mesh safety covers leads to the addition of rainwater, UV light which can further boost the algae and bacteria growth. This may appear as a negative impact but mesh pool covers require less maintenance throughout the winters.

Rainwater seeping in through the cover prevents it from damages and dirt and debris collected over it is easily blown away by the wind. Therefore, while opening the cover during the winter season, you wouldn’t need to fuss a lot.

Solid Safety Covers

The solid safety covers are like a blanket over the pool keeping out almost everything. This solid piece does not even allow the water to sleep in. Therefore, the risk of developing algae while installing solid safety covers is pretty less.

As soon as summer arrives, you can open the solid safety covers and be assured about the clean environment. Nonetheless, since UV rays do not have a chance to get into the swimming pools, most of the chemicals are likely to vanish. Therefore, maintenance costs will prove to be cheap for you.

Solid safety covers for most parts keeps all the dirt and debris away. However, the only disadvantage is that the solid covers are prone to sagging and easy damage.

Which one should you choose?

Both mesh and solid safety covers require maintenance and it totally depends on how much you use them. If you do not want to spend more time in maintenance during winters, solid pool cover is the best option but if you want to spend less money getting a new one, mesh pool cover is the best.
